Night Splint

An occlusal (night) splint is a moulded plastic appliance worn over upper or lower teeth at nighttime. It helps to prevent damage to your teeth caused by “bruxism”, which is non-functional clenching/grinding of teeth.

During examination, your dentist may notice the signs of bruxism such as signs of wear on individual teeth (“wear facets”) or an overall loss of tooth height because of wear. If such signs are noticed, an occlusal splint may be recommended to you.
